The Great Fire of
London
London was a very large medieval city. It was
one of the major cities in Europe.
London was a very beautiful city but a
terrible accident happened. On September 1666, the Great Fire began.
There were a few possible causes to the
Great Fire, may be it was an accident from a domestic fire place, a candle, an
oil lamp or an oven.
The fire lasted for four or five days and it
continued to smoulder for many days.
There were 87 churches that were destroyed,
St Paul Cathedral went on fire, 13,000 or 14,000 houses burnt out and many
businesses burnt out too.
So, there were a lot of
buildings that were destroyed or burnt out...
The Fire provoked enormous numbers of
homeless people.
This moment was very terrible, and
the fire was very big, so for London, this fire will stay a long time stand out
in head and everybody will remember it.
